About This Website
This site was created in 2007 (after so many China recalls!) in an effort to see if there are still toys made in America. Unfortunately, like so many products in America these days, most toys sold in this country are made in China. (And also unfortunate, but not surprising, our economy is suffering while China’s is one of the fastest growing in the world!)
Even if you’re not concerned about toy recalls, which we all should be, considering toys are just a fraction of the products in our daily lives that come from China (consider the dangerous recent recalls of China food items!), we should all be concerned about the impact that outsourcing of American jobs has had on our economy. And despite the myth that products made in China are cheaper, this is not always the case. Many of the recalled toys are certainly not cheap, just cheaply made. More times than not, it’s corporations who profit from cheap labor, not the American consumer.
While I realize it’s not practical or realistic to buy only things made in America, I think it’s worth the effort to try and buy American-made whenever possible.
The good news is that there are options out there, if you look around. Through lots of research and Googling, as well as lots of helpful feedback, I’ve discovered many great products made here in America. Please visit some of the links on my site, many of them will surprise you with the amount of toys and products they offer that are made in the USA. And why not support companies who are keeping jobs here in America? With a struggling U.S. economy and rising unemployment rates, this seems more important than ever.
Feel free to email me at: email@example.com with any comments or questions. If you would like to have your link included on this site, please email me the details about your product. There’s certainly no charge, I’m just happy to get the information out there.
Thank-you to everyone who has provided their feedback and assistance! Please check back often as I continue to update my links!
PLEASE NOTE: I compiled these links from various sources and cannot guarantee that every company or product on this site is strictly American, or that a company’s “Made in USA” claim is following the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines (see Complying with the Made in the USA Standard.) Before purchasing any product, please do your own research and check product details for “Made in USA” or country of origin. If you discover a company on this list that is not strictly American, and I have not already included a disclaimer with their link, please let me know! A few of the companies I’ve included (e.g. Little Tikes, Step 2, PBS Kids, etc.) also sell products made overseas, including China, and I’ve included a disclaimer with their link as a reminder to look for their “made in the USA” products. LITTLE TIKES and STEP 2 each have a link on their home page that takes you to their “made in the USA” products. Also, Advertisements are included in the columns of my pages, including “Ads by Google”, that may or may not be for American-made products.
